🇬🇧 New Year’s Resolution
This picture was taken in the marina of Santa Marta. It was shocking to see the amount of plastic waste floating around in the water.
I don’t need to tell you that plastic is a huge problem worldwide. Your disposal of it in a bin doesn’t make it go away. We are all polluters with every piece of plastic we purchase. We
all need to get smarter when it comes to our purchases. It’s a process that doesn’t happen overnight… but if we don’t take action soon, our seas will be even more polluted by plastic and microplastic than they already are. It’s a vicious circle that frightens us. We can see the plastic waste being washed ashore. Of course, we collect it whenever we can, but it’s a Sysiphian task. And we don’t really know what happens with it when we throw the rubbish bag in a bin somewhere. So. Our New Year’s Resolution is to reduce our plastic consumption as much as we can. And we would urge you to please try to do that, too.

🇩🇪 Vorsätze für das neue Jahr
Dieses Bild wurde im Yachthafen von Santa Marta aufgenommen. Es war schockierend zu sehen, wie viel Plastikmüll im Wasser herumschwimmt.
Ich brauche euch nicht zu sagen, dass Plastik weltweit ein großes Problem darstellt. Auch wenn ihr es in den Mülleimer werft, verschwindet es nicht einfach so. Mit jedem Stück Plastik, das wir kaufen, sind wir alle Umweltverschmutzer. Wir
alle müssen klüger werden, wenn es um unsere Einkäufe geht. Das geht nicht von heute auf morgen… aber wenn wir nicht bald etwas unternehmen, werden unsere Meere noch stärker durch Plastik und Mikroplastik verschmutzt sein, als sie es ohnehin schon sind. Das ist ein Teufelskreis, der uns Angst macht. Wir können sehen, wie der Plastikmüll an Land gespült wird. Natürlich sammeln wir ihn ein, wann immer wir können, aber das ist eine Sysiphus Aufgabe. Und wir wissen nicht wirklich, was damit passiert, wenn wir die Mülltüte irgendwo in einen Mülleimer werfen. Also. Unser Vorsatz für das neue Jahr ist es, unseren Plastikverbrauch so weit wie möglich zu reduzieren. Und wir möchten euch dringend bitten, das auch zu tun.
